Nouvelle Vague Surf School

Rapha and the team are really good and patient teachers, they're so lovely especially with beginners! We felt very comfortable and were able to stand up on the board doing our first lesson. Warmly recommend!! 💞

The best place to learn surfing. We have been coming with my children for several years and it is always great fun. The surf spot is great and the surf school also organizes lots of relaxed events in addition to the surf training.

Of the many surf schools available in Soulac Sur Mer, we opted for Nouvelle Vague largely because of the rave reviews - and the fact that they provide courses in English. We weren't disappointed. My family signed up for two 90-minute sessions. My kids (9 and 11) joined a children's group, and my wife and I joined the adults. The groups were a perfect size, allowing us to learn both from each other and to get lots of personal attention. Session 1 began on the beach with the basics and then spent the main part in the sea practising what we had been shown. Within 90 minutes I had mastered choosing the perfect moment to catch a wave, accelerating, and staying on the board. I was ready to try standing by the end of the first hour, something I focussed on in the second session. By the start of the second session, my kids had nailed it. It was amazing to see the ease with which they were able to stay on the boards and surf to the shore. They looked SO cool, and they were thrilled. My wife and I are hugely proud of them and have signed up for a third session to continue perfecting our new favourite sport. I never thought I'd be able to surf. I was sure I was too old. But thanks to the excellent instruction, and amiable instructors, we all managed it. The surf school itself is also a fun place to hang out. It's on a beach a little way out of the main tourist area, which means that we had loads of sea to ourselves - making us all feel much safer. There's a great little bar and cafe, and they run regular DJ sets, karaoke afternoons, and other parties. It was the perfect introduction to surfing -. I can't recommend it enough!

Great beachbreak to learn surfing, nice instructors that are good with kids, very relaxed atmosphere and owner. 100% recommendation!
