It makes you dream: portrait of Solenne Piret
In the world of para-escalation, one name in particular resonates with strength and grace: Solenne Piret. Born in 1992 in Lagny, Oise, this exceptional athlete stands out not only for her sporting prowess, but also for the unique story that has shaped her career. Marked from birth by agenesis of the right forearm (in other words, a lack of training), Solenne has transformed what might have been perceived as a limitation into a source of inexhaustible strength and inspiration.
Sport, a philosophy of life
Solenne grew up in a family where sport was not so much an activity as a philosophy of life. It was in the heights of Fontainebleau that she discovered climbing, the vertical dance that was soon to become her destiny. But before reaching the heights of para-climbing, Solenne turned to architecture. A graduate of INSA Strasbourg, she is preparing to embrace a rather... conventional professional life.
The spark
This was without counting on the expert eye of Julien Gasc, a leading member of the French para-escalation team, who spotted a raw talent in her in 2017, in the adrenalin-filled atmosphere of Arkose Nation's indoor gym in Paris.
The tricolor jersey 🇫🇷
2018 marks the start of a dazzling epic. Solenne dons the tricolor jersey and takes to the world para-escalation arena. With surgical precision and the concentration of a tightrope walker, she quickly dominated her category. One victory followed another: World Cup stages, gold medals at the world championships. Solenne became synonymous with success, a legend in the making.
Soon the Olympics
Her triumphs at the 2019, 2021 and ultimate consecration at the 2023 World Championships in Berne, where she won her fourth consecutive world title, confirm her immense talent.
On the eve of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Solenne Piret is not only a favorite for a historic title, but a living example of the spirit of perseverance.
